STUDIO VISIT
I have always been fascinated by glass. When I was young, my parents took me to Williamsburg, Virgina, and there I saw an artist or re-enactor blowing glass. I remember my fascination with the fluidity of the glass and how one could create such beautiful creations just by heating the glass! It's always been a unique type of craft to me.
I've been fusing glass for over 7 years... for most of that time I've been creating glass jewelry, i.e., pendants, rings, earrings, bracelets... and learning about the awesome properties of glass fusing! During that time I was also a beaded jewelry artist (10+ years), a career that I give less time to so I can devote more time to glass fusing. :-)
Presently I have a glass studio & a small gallery in St. Augustine, FL. Last year, I felt very fortunate to have had studio space in an art gallery in Islamorada (FL Keys). The latter opportunity allowed me the time to develop my creativity in glass, which can be a lengthy process. And I am STILL developing my creativity in glass! It's an ongoing process!
I've been steadily creating a variety of fused glass pieces, one of which is shown here:
Some of my pieces are created with molds that I hand create as opposed to using commercial molds. I prefer to create a more distinctive type of mold than one that is mass produced. My studio is a working glass studio, and so I'm usually cutting glass, arranging creations, and firing the kilns! The Studio & Glass Gallery is normally open by appointment only. Please call ahead the number below to schedule a day & time to visit. Specific directions will be provided upon confirmation of appointment.
